Overview
What it's for
What it's for
Elisir K2 is a supplement based on vitamin K2 MK7, which is important for the proper use of calcium in the body. Vitamin K2 works in synergy with vitamin D, helping to direct calcium towards bones and teeth without it being deposited in the arteries or in soft tissues.
Key benefits
- supports bone health
- aids proper calcium metabolism
- works in synergy with vitamin D
- contributes to cardiovascular health
How it works
The calcium paradox
Vitamin D3 increases calcium absorption from the intestine, but it does not decide where that calcium goes. Without vitamin K2, circulating calcium can be deposited wherever the body manages to “park” it — the arterial walls, the soft tissues — instead of in the bones. K2 activates the two proteins that direct it.
Osteocalcin: calcium to the bones
K2 activates osteocalcin, the protein produced by osteoblasts that captures circulating calcium and binds it into the bone matrix. Without K2, osteocalcin remains inactive and calcium remains in circulation.
Matrix Gla Protein: calcium away from the arteries
Matrix Gla Protein (MGP) is the protein that inhibits arterial calcification, and it only works when activated by K2. Elastic, calcium-free arteries are arteries along which LDL flows without being deposited.
Only the all-trans form is active
K2 MK7 can exist in two molecular configurations: all-trans and cis. Only the all-trans form is recognised by the body's enzymes; the cis form is inert. Kappa Bioscience's K2, produced by controlled synthesis from geraniol and farnesol (compounds extracted from flowers), guarantees the all-trans form.
Two oils, two speeds
MCT oil (medium-chain triglycerides) is absorbed without bile and carried directly to the liver: it gets K2 into circulation quickly. The organic extra virgin olive oil from Capo Farfa provides stable, prolonged absorption. Together they form a two-phase release.

What to expect
What to expect
K2 MK7 has a half-life of over 72 hours in the blood: it builds up progressively and the benefits follow a cumulative pattern.
- Days 1–21
The body reaches saturation
K2 builds up in the tissues and in the plasma; after about two weeks of consistent use, blood levels are stable. Osteocalcin begins to be activated.
- Days 22–30
Joints and vitality
Saturation is reached: K2 works at full capacity on osteocalcin and MGP. Those with joint pain notice more mobility and less morning stiffness.
- After 2 months
Bones, heart, arteries
Arterial calcification is slowed, and bone density shows the first improvements measurable with specific tests. Those who also take D3 see its effect amplified.
The times indicated are an estimate and may vary from person to person, depending on age, lifestyle, diet and consistency of use.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Why wait 6 hours after vitamin D3?
The two vitamins compete for the same lipid transporters (chylomicrons) in the intestine: taken together, they reduce each other's absorption. Kept separate — D3 in the morning with a meal, K2 in the evening — each one finds the transporters free.
How many drops a day?
From 10 to 20 drops (100–200 µg), depending on the amount of vitamin D taken. You can start with 10 drops and gradually increase to 20 over the following weeks.
Where does the K2 come from?
From Kappa Bioscience, a Norwegian company that produces vitamin K2 MK7 (K2VITAL® brand), obtained by controlled synthesis from geraniol and farnesol, compounds extracted from flowers. The source is traceable and certified.
